The cats pretend they’re not excited, but I know better. They’re just as happy as I am that Lucy came to live with us, so they’re celebrating — in their own dignified feline ways — the second anniversary of Lucy joining us.
When she came to live with us, Lucy was terrified of the world. The people who had rescued her and worked with her before she came to us declared that she would always be a “special-needs doggie” who wouldn’t do very well and would probably never warm up to people.
It took awhile, but Lucy slowly learned that she could trust her human — and her feline friends — so she developed confidence in herself and has slowly transformed herself into the World’s Happiest Dog®. It’s amazing what consistent love and attention can do for an animal — or a human.
We are very lucky that she came to live with us.
Note: If you don’t know Lucy’s story, here’s what I wrote last year — on her first anniversary with us. You can click on the picture above to see a bigger version of her happy picture.
